Honor we hold

We are the artist, we are the great, you are the rivals we will dominate, we will leave a legacy, we will defy gravity,  we may not strike gold but honor we will hold.
Like this chant we were able to prove that we really indeed try our best in bringing honor.
Chants and cheers in one of the most awaited competition held every English term, students are required to compete. Subject like TechWrit, PubSpe 1 and 2 , Gramcom and E.E.P are credited to give extra grades to their students.
It pays to be punctual. My block went to the auditorium well prepared we went exactly 7:50 am and the program starts at 8:00 am but sadly difficulties occurred so the event started at the time of 9:00 am. ABMA 151 my block had a chance to run our piece one last time before the competitor proper starts, while waiting Sir Nomer Yuzon gave us an entertaining performance to the students that were early.

We were the first one to perform on the stage, we were really on our game face modes on, people were clapping while we were performing at the end of our performance students started greeting us with good feedback that made as satisfy with what we did on the stage. Other blocks went to perform their piece.
What really caught my attention was the performance of the CPE 151 students, their performance was one of the most creative performance I’ve ever seen, it’s really creative of them to put up glow in the dark shirt and putting on some to their hands that really made a good effects on their performance.

The program ended up ranking my block as the 2nd place, CPE 151 as the first placers and CPA 151 was announced as the champion they really deserve the spot, I know all blocks did their best to show a good performance. I personally can’t wait what will happen next in the upcoming Speech Choir competition for our finals. Good job to all!

Jonathan Adriano Santos

Jonathan Adriano Santos or known as Jon Santos (Born on January 15,1966) was known as a Filipino comedian and impersonator who has done more than 50 different impersonations including (Ate Vi – Vilma Santos, Senator Miriam Defensive Santiago – Senator Miriam Deferensor Santiago and her latest impersonation is Pia Alonzo Worseback – Pia Alonzo Horseback).
On the 11th of February he was invited by the APC’s ERC Office as a speaker and share his experiences in his field of career and passion.
He first stated that he’s not used to sharing his life to other people like it was much easier for him to be someone else and impersonate other people, but still he shared his life to the students that are taking up the English term.
He started sharing about his life as a newbie in the acting industry, he mentioned that he was working while studying going to comedy bars to work and do his passion. He finished BS Economics in the University of the Philippines Diliman he then admitted it was just luck that made him passed his bachelor’s degree, project come along and he told that economics is far from acting and impersonating but he was he was still able to use his educational background when it comes to many and his salary. After his long talk about his life as a newbie he then shared his personal life, how he met his husband how his parents reacted when he said he was gay, he said it in the way people would laugh I know deep inside it means a lot to him.
He shared some “Words of Wisdom” to the students and said, when it comes to taking up your course you should really decide what you want in life, it is something that really matters and your decisions can affect your whole future.

Being able to know his life is a recognition for me because he made me realize things that should be mattering at the moment. Throughout his whole talk people are just laughing and just enjoyed every second of his talk. I commend him for being such a good person, role model to student like us.

ANTI-SMOKING and Tips

According to a 2009 survey conducted under the auspices of the Philippines' Department of Health, Philippine Statistics Authority, the World Health Organization, and the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 28.3 percent of the population are "current smokers ".

But when it come to our school campaign about “Anti-smoking” my opinion is that this campaign is not that effective to its students. Why? because as you can see, once you step out of the school specifically in our APC parking lot you’ll see some students smoking even professors, some may not be smoking cigarette but a lot of them is using this new machine called Vape of E-cigarettes.

I asked one of the vape users I know in the APC parking lot and said why are you using vape? then he answers, nothing I just want to experience it and it is much better than a real cigarette and it comes with a flavors to, then I said “ but its but for your health” he replies nothing, no reply at all. That’s why I ask myself why people still smoke and use vape even if they know it’s bad for them.
But as early as her age, they can still prevent themselves from using vapes and using cigarette as their past- time and stress relievers here are some tips vapers and smokers can do to stop them.

  • Eliminate a cigarette break by doing something else that you enjoy.
  • If people offer you cigarettes, say no.
  • Challenge some of your preconceived ideas or clichés concerning your relationship with cigarettes (e.g. “cigarettes are my best friends”, “it’ll never be as enjoyable with a beer, a coffee, etc.”, and so on).
  • Do things with non-smokers.
  • Smoke your first cigarette of the day later than usual.
  • Smoke a few less cigarettes each day.
  • Eliminate the smell of cigarette smoke from your clothes, your home, etc.
  • Reduce or avoid coffee, tea, cola and alcohol for as long as it takes.
  • Avoid negative thoughts; concentrate instead on your motivators and goals.
  • If you’re a woman, schedule your quit date after your monthly period, when the withdrawal symptoms will be less severe.
The effects of quitting start to set in immediately. Less than 20 minutes after your last cigarette, your heart rate will already start to drop back towards normal levels (CDC, 2004).
